New hi-tech facility for Infinity Park

Derby City Council is proposing to invest £19.3millon in a high-quality technology space to stimulate growth and support the city’s transport engineering supply chain sector at Infinity Park Derby with Pattonair poised to lease the building upon completion.

Infinity Park Derby, is strategically located adjacent to the A50 and Rolls-Royce aerospace campus and will be home to the new facility. The new building will comprise an 80,000ft² warehouse, 15,000ft² of office space, with a further 30,000ft² of mezzanine offices within the warehouse. The Council has negotiated terms with the developers for the site, Infinity Park Derby LLP, and leading Derby based transport engineering supply chain company, Pattonair.

This proactive approach from the Council will help to realise the potential of Infinity Park Derby, act as a catalyst for growth and build upon the existing partnership the Council has with Developers and Landowners that has delivered the infrastructure at the site including Infinity Park Way.

Councillor Matthew Holmes, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Public Protection said: “Derby is a world leader in transport engineering, and this is a fantastic opportunity for the Council to help grow and enhance the facilities we have within the city. This investment will continue to cement our commitment to innovation and growth.”

Pattonair has a long and substantial presence within Derby, operating from facilities with around 600 employees. The planned transition to a new purpose-built campus forms part of their 5-year strategy for growth, securing jobs and creating a stable future for aerospace engineering in Derby.

The firm provides distribution and supply chain management services to the aerospace and defence sectors, including sourcing, inspecting and delivering a range of products such as bearings, fasteners and seals, with operations across the world.

Derby-based aerospace and defence supply chain service provider Pattonair is one of the UK’s fastest-growing medium-sized businesses, making this year’s Sunday Times Top Track 250 league table.

Pattonair CEO Wayne Hollinshead said: “We’re delighted to be announcing our plans for a world class aerospace campus at Infinity Park. We are keen to work alongside Derby City Council as a partner in this exciting new chapter for Pattonair, delivering world class service to our customers.

This new site covers 9.1-acres, doubling our operational facilities and allowing us the capacity to produce more and create new jobs. Should we get the green light, we aim to be operational during 2021.”

The iHub, which is also based at Infinity Park, has been a huge success since its launch in autumn 2016. It has attracted a diverse range of large and small businesses from across the rail, aerospace and automotive supply industries and is currently 94% occupied.

The project received Cabinet approval on Wednesday 13th February.
